Hotel Armitage and Conference Centre, Tauranga

Hotel Armitage and Conference Centre - your Tauranga hotel accommodation - is conveniently located in the heart of Tauranga city. At a 2.5 hour drive from Auckland, 1 hour from Rotorua and Hamilton and 2 hours to Taupo, we're conveniently located within a few hours of many of the North Island's major towns and you're only 10 minutes from the beautiful beaches of Mount Maunganui.

Bay of Plenty

There is so much to see and do in the beautiful Bay of Plenty area and Tauranga is in the heart of it all. Enjoy the cosmopolitan city life, bush walks, forests and parks, fantastic golf courses, kiwi fruit orchards, rolling surf beaches, sumptuous cuisine and many action activities. It’s all here, just waiting to be discovered; the Hotel Armitage is the ideal Tauranga accommodation to base yourself from while you explore the region...

The Bay of Plenty’s waters are internationally renowned for game fishing catches, with many celebrities chasing the big marlin, kingfish and tuna amongst many other species of fish. Dolphins are often playing around the boats and it isn’t even rare to see whales in the Bay's crystal clear waters.

The climate is relatively mild all year round; with usually hot summer weather between January and April. The sunny climate is ideal for growing avocados, kiwi fruit, citrus and other subtropical fruits for which the region is renowned.

Hotel Armitage is located in the centre of Tauranga, the largest city in the Bay of Plenty and one of New Zealand’s fastest growing cities. Due to its sheltered position on the east coast, Tauranga enjoys a warm, mostly dry climate.

Much of the surrounding countryside is horticultural land. The area is particularly known for growing tangelos, avocados and kiwifruit. The Port of Tauranga is a major container ship stop off and also welcomes many cruise ships during the season.

Tauranga offers a big city lifestyle at its own relaxed pace and there are plenty of choices for eating out. Everything from lunch bars to exquisite restaurants can be found on or near the Strand. It is the place to be for great coffee, international cuisine, alfresco dining, and fantastic nightlife.

Mount Maunganui

Mount Maunganui, at just a leisurely 10 minute drive from your Tauranga hotel accommodation at the Armitage, is one of New Zealand’s most popular holiday destinations. This coastal resort town enjoys great weather all year around. Mount Maunganui (Mauao) is also the name of the extinct volcanic cone that dominates the region.

The beautiful sandy beaches around Mauao are great for surfing, swimming and diving. Every year the Mount beach hosts the National Surf Championships, and many other sporting events.

Mount Maunganui is known in New Zealand simply as The Mount. The relaxed atmosphere is complimented by a vibrant café scene, great shopping and beach culture. Whatever time of the year, the Mount is a great place to visit.

There are so many great things to see and do while staying in Tauranga. Here are just some of the activities you can do;
  • Climb Mount Maunganui and take in the spectacular 360 degree views
  • Relax in the sun at the beach – one of the top holiday spots in New Zealand
